Welcome to February
Back to normality - well that’s the idea. February usually means that holidays have been taken, kids are back at school and we can turn our intentions to achieving success at work and the gym. We’ve also put together a new Group Fitness timetable to help motivate you – additional classes have been added, so now there’s no excuse not to join the fun. Check out our new timetable online or pick up a copy from reception next time you’re in.
New Faces
We have some new faces around the gym. I want to welcome our two new membership consultants, Cleo Wood and Hayley Duggan. I also want to welcome our three new personal trainers, Sam Rapira, Brodie McQuilkin, and Jermain Williams.
Gym Etiquette
Every now and then a gentle reminder needs to be made on gym etiquette to keep everyone happy and coming back to the club; it makes your workout more effective and enjoyable when you enter an environment that is ready to serve you. Gym etiquette requires 100% adherence so read on and see how you can play your part in a happy healthy club.
1. Equipment is a boomerang
Every piece of equipment has its place and it is not on the floor. If you use the philosophy that equipment is a boomerang then every piece of equipment goes back on the rack. That way everyone can find what they are looking for in a timely manner.
2. The "sweat spot" is not hot!
Carrying a workout towel should be just as important as wearing pants when working out. Please ensure you carry a towel when you workout.
3. The big H – Hygiene
Don’t even let it cross your mind – no you can’t get away with wearing your gym gear twice without washing it- while it means a bit more work your fellow gym member will appreciate you putting in the effort to shower, deodorise, brush your teeth and wear clean gym clothes.
4. Bags on the gym floor and Group Fitness studio
While you are in the club bags stay in the lockers - that way no one can trip over them and it keeps our Group Fitness studio with space for jumping around in. Please remember a padlock to keep your things safe – or if you forget stop by reception and ask if they could mind your bag as a one off.
5. Sharing is caring, hugging is for somewhere else
At times the gym floor gets busy and someone is bound to be using the piece of equipment you want to use. Just because someone is on "your" machine there is no reason why you can’t ask them to work in with you.
6. It starts with our staff – you be our police!
All cityfitness staff have been well educated on the above issues so within your workout period you should see staff putting equipment away, picking up rubbish or cleaning something around the club. Feel free to hold us to our high standard if you see something to the contrary please let us know.
FITNESS MANAGER
Welcome back to all of our members who have been able to get in a good holiday.
I want to start by thanking you all for continuing to train with us and wish you all the best for your health and fitness goals for 2012!!
It saddens me to tell you all how I will be leaving at the end of this month to take up a Fitness Manager role in Lyall Bay, Wellington.
I have loved every minute working here in New Plymouth and I will miss you all.
Kieran McKendry will be taking over my role and he brings a different skill set to the team and will be charged with leading us into greatness.
All of our members are able to have a FREE re-evaluation with any Personal Trainer worth $64.00.
Our friendly team will be utilising that hour to make sure you are set up the right way in the gym. This will not only keep you confident with the right exercises as everyone is different but ensure you are safe and secure.
This will fast track your results and our patented and proven RESULTS MAPPING PROCESS we can guarantee you achieve your goals as fast as you need them.
If you have any questions regarding Personal Training please come and see me.
Thanks and have an awesome year
JOSHUA PAURINI
CLUB MANAGER
One of those new faces at the gym is me! My name is Sean Schubel and I am the new acting club manager. I’ve come up from Wellington to New Plymouth and fallen in love with the Taranaki region. I moved to New Zealand from the USA last winter and I have to say I don’t think I’ve ever seen a place as beautiful as New Plymouth.
I encourage all cityfitness members that don’t already know me to please stop and introduce yourself when you’re in the club. The first thing I noticed about the New Plymouth area is how nice it’s people are. Every person I have meet since I’ve been here has been so welcoming. I’ve only been here for four weeks now but I already feel so at home. Thank you New Plymouth!!
I also want to say welcome to our new fitness manager, Kieran McKendry. Yes it sad to see Josh leave us for Lyall Bay and we will miss him. All of us here at New Plymouth wish him the best!
